An APC Chieftain in Zamfara an security analyst Bello Bakyasuwa Maradun has opined that, the government of Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has failed to perform the statutory function it has sworn to discharge and as such it has loss the confidence of the people.

Bakyasuwa who spoke against the rising insecurity in the state said, “the Governor seems to be responding to the demand of criminals especially with the manner at which they are attacking innocent lives and government is yet telling people that it is applying stick and carrot”.

He stated this via a statement issued to this medium in Abuja on Tuesday.

“With the abduction of close to (100) students of GDSS Kaya in Maradun and many other attacks in Tsafe, some villages under Gusau, Zurmi and Shinkafi the government should not have the moral reason to be talking of stick and carrot instead it should face the bandits and get them crushed” Bakyasuwa added.

He said if after longtime of reconciliation between the government and bandits nothing is achieved, the Governor need to give explanation to Zamfara people on the essence of the peace and reconciliation he has entered with the bandits all these while.

Bakyasuwa who argued that he is not doubting the commitment of the Governor in addressing the lingering security crises rocking the state, noted that he is in doubt of the sincerity of purpose of his government and the expertise of his security advisers.

He also accused the government of its inability to provide the needed logistics for the military and other security agencies to be able to carry their functions in accordance with the statutory rules of engagement.

“Reconciliation is not enough, negotiation too may not be an option since we are yet to see any result arising from it,” Bakyasuwa added.

Bakyasuwa therefore said it is time for Governor Bello Matawalle to redefine his security strategies according to him, especially now that people are beginning to accuse him of complicity.
