Responding to the clarion calls to look into the condition of the (200) Zamfara foreign students, Governor Bello Matawalle has finally set up a high-powered committee to visit the countries where the students are based and settle their pending bursaries and allowances.
A source close to the Governor called to break the news to the Thunder Blowers this morning as part of the effort to appreciate the concern shown by the medium over the matter.
It could be recalled that last month, there was a heated debate between the citizens and officials of the Directorate of Scholarship and Students Matters over an interview clip conducted by Thunder Blowers when the matter was raised for one Barr. Muhammad Dantabawa during its live program “Da wache Kazo”.
We also reported in one of our editorial that many of the students, especially those studying at Cyprus may like not going to be allowed to write their end of the year examination due to pending bursaries they are yet to settle.
Again, we reported in the same editorial that those in Sudan and India have been issued with the notice of eviction from their hostels due to non-payment of their accommodation allowances by the state government.
But the source said, the Governor has set up of a committee to visit the students in their respective states and settle all their pending financial claims.
He said, by next week the committee may likely depart Nigeria and assured the guardians of the students that the state Governor has approved all that are required to settle the pending financial obligations.
He assured that Thunder Blowers would be kept updated on all steps taken while in the countries so that public can be kept informed.
