Zamfara State Commissioner for Water Resources Eng. Janaidu Muhammad Bukkuyum has confirmed that the regular water supply to residents of Gusau and its environs will be restored by Thursday as the Ministry has rectified the technical default that affected the water pumping machines in their stations.
The Commissioner who declared this in an exclusive interview with Thunder Blowers on Wednesday said, for the past few days his engineers have been working actively to rectify the technical default a circumstance which led to the shortage of water within the capital city.
He noted further that, in order to avoid this type of circumstance, his ministry is working in partnership with the water board to revive all the boreholes earlier drilled but abandoned so that they can be supportive of the central pumping station.
He thanked the people of Zamfara for their understanding especially during these trying days noting that by Thursday regular water supply to residents of Gusau and environs would surely be restored.
Earlier before reaching the Commissioner for comment, this medium reliably gathered that the usual water supply by the state water board could not be sustained because of shortage of chemicals used for water treatment.
But the source disclosed that as at Wednesday morning the state government has been able to supply the chemicals and handed them over to the state water board for usage.
