The former administration of Governor Abdulazeez Yari has been accused of hiding under the pretence of supplying clothing materials to mismanage over 8 billion naira between May 2011 to May 2019.
Chairman of the Local Government Project Verification Committee Eng. Ibrahim Isah Mayana made the allegation when he featured in the Thunder Blowers Online TV show programme “Tiryan Tiryan” on Monday.
He said one company by name “Kafin Kafin” global enterprise was alleged to have supplied clothing materials to the (14) local government councils through the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs worth N8, 291,354,000 naira without any evidence to show that the clothing materials have been supplied and delivered as contractually agreed.
He also alleged that, the contractor was summoned by the committee several time to explained when and how he delivered the clothing materials awarded to him but he delibrately refused to appear before the committee noting that, anytime the contractor is contacted he used to inform the committee that he is outside the country.
On the supply of grains to local government councils, he said his committee has discovered that the immediate past administration through the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs had alleged to have procured grains worth over 2.72 billion naira.
He alleged that there is also no evidence to probe that the grains have been supplied and delivered to the local government councils hence the committee could not furnished with the evidence of delivery by both the ministry and 14 local government councils despite several requests made.
He also alleged that one Samaila S. Pawa Mafara who was awarded contract for drilling of boreholes at Maru and Zurmi has to refund to the state government about 28 million naira for failure to execute the contract according to the specification. He noted that both the units of boreholes and water tanks installed in the two project sites are per below the standard and quantity agreed.
