The former Chairman of Zamfara State Civil Service Commission Alh Ahmad Zabarma has commended the leadership of Zamfara State Board of Internal Revenue for their renewed effort in boosting the revenue generation (IGR) drive of the the state.
Ahmad Zabarma who gave the commendation during a TV show programme of Thunder Blowers Online TV “Tiryan Tiryan” in Gusau on Sunday said, before now the board hardly generate IGR above 200 million naira monthly.
He said before now, the previous administration engaged a consultant who collected tax on behalf of the state government and he is been paid up to 17% of the total revenue collected for the state.
He explained that, for one and a half year alone, the consultant has received close to 253 million naira as consultancy fees noting that, the money has exceeded the IGR monthly collection of the state.
He noted further that the new leadership of Lubabatu Mayana has done well in repositioning the State Board of Internal Revenue and boosting the revenue drive of the state.
The former CSC Chairman explained that, in February alone the Chairperson has paid a total of N350M, N750M, in March and 1,020M in July to the state government as IGR collection.
He said the Chairperson has also followed up with all the Federal agencies to ensure that they have remitted their collections for the state an effort that helped Zamfara State in generating additional 450 million naira.
He also commended the effort of the Chairperson for her boldness in rationalising some of the staff posted to Board of Internal Revenue without requirements and qualifications to work in the board.
