Members of Zamfara State House of Assembly have unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on the National Security Adviser Gen. Babagana Monguno during their Wednesday’s plenary.

In a statement by the spokesperson of the house Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, members also called on the federal government to constitute a committee that will conduct a holistic review of the nation’s security architecture as test the strengths of their intelligence network as it affects Zamfara State.

They also called on the state government to set up an investigative panel that will probe those undermining the relative peace enjoyed by the people of the state.

The resolution followed a motion of urgent public interest sponsored by the house leader Faruk Dosara Dosara who expressed concern with the recent incident that occurred in Jangebe which led to the abduction of 279 teenage girls in Government Girls Secondary School located in the area.

Dosara attributed the success of the attack to the failure of the security agencies to acted promptly by repelling the attack noting that the episode in Jangebe has further demonstrated the weaknesses of the intelligence network of the security agencies.

On declaration of Zamfara state as “No-fly zone” and enforcement of the ban on mining activities, members wondered why the National Council on Security has to take this kind of decision against Zamfara considering the fact that Kidnapping and abduction of students did not start in Zamfara state.

The vehemently rejected the council’s decision and called on the federal government to reverse it in order not to put the interest of the already volatile citizens of Zamfara into jeopardy.

They also called on their colleagues at the federal level to intervene and save Zamfara state from further disgrace caused by insecurity.
