The APC youth leader in Zamfara Abdullahi Sani Dan-Azumi has been arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian police force in Gusau on Thursday.
According to a source from the APC state headquarters in Gusau, he was arrested over a threatening video of himself which went viral on the social media.
In the video Dan-Azumi threatened that, anyone that has a hand in the prosecution and molestation of former Governor Yari would either die, lost his position or suffered badly.
As at this evening there have been information going round the public that, the Youth leader may likely be prosecuted at Shariah Court Samaru for charges of incitement of public peace.
But as at 6:00pm there was no sign of any activity at Samaru Shariah Court signalling that someone may be brought to the court for prosecution.
This medium reliably gathered that, the youth leader has been at the custody of the CID undergoing interrogation by the team of investigators.
It was alleged by one of the state APC officials that, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Nura Ibrahim Zarumi had ordered for the Samaru Court to be open despite the fact that there is an ongoing strike by JUSUN just to make sure that the youth leader has been prosecuted and detained in prison.
When contacted, State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barr. Nura Ibrahim Zarumi said as per as he is concerned it is members of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) that are on strike not the Shariah judges.
He further said, it was the police that arrested the APC youth leader based on their own reason and not the state adding that he or his ministry have no hands in the issue.
He added that, the police operatives have the right under the law to arrest any person alleged to have committed any crime.
He also said, after the arrest of the suspect they have power to investigate the allegation against that particular person.
However, under the law specifically Nigerian Constitution they cannot detain a suspect above 48 hours and as such where they cannot conclude their investigation within the stipulated 48 hours they have option.
The Attorney General further said, in the case of Zamfara the section 128 of the Shariah Penal Code has empowered the police to apply to a shariah court for an order of detention of the accused but not above 15 days.
He said the Shariah court judge has the descretion to grant or deny the request by the police in respect of the charges against the youth leader.
He asked Zamfara APC to count him out of that debacle and face their issue with the police.
But the former Attorney General of Zamfara and APC legal Adviser Barr. Bello Umar said, the charges against the APC youth leader in Zamfara is that of inciting public disturbance and by law it is a bailable offense.
He said it is unfortunate that despite all attempt to secure the release of the accused on bail the police refused the request for reasons best to known to them.
He said there are people on ground ready to receive him on bail and produce him any time requested but the police are making things difficult.
