Zamfara State Police Commissioner Mr. Hussaini Rabiu has announced that, the command has already commences the review of the existing crime fighting strategies of the state with a view to making them effective in addressing the security challenges confronting the state.
The State Police Commissioner declared this during a maiden press conference held at the headquarters of the State Police Command in Gusau on Monday.
He said the command is making a careful study of the peculiar nature of security challenges that are prevalent in the state, which include armed banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, armed robbery, culpable homicide and other related crimes
“The combat readiness, determination and total commitment of the police under my watch will be through total onslaught against vicious crimes, and that will be carried out in partnership with the State Government, other security agencies, Traditional Rulers, Community and Religious leaders”.
“My Policing strategy will be intelligence led driven and community participation and engagement which transcends law enforcement to embrace human security and development services, but necessarily require diverse expertise and whole community support”.
“Our policing has to be driven by fore knowledge and be guided by intelligence at strategic, operational and tactical levels. It should therefore be proactive, preventive in orientation and conducted within the context of public ownership, partnership, participation, problem-solving and community support with a mainstream human security”.
“Our synergy with other security agencies in the state will be enhanced to ensure that we provide an effective security service to the people of Zamfara State where the atmosphere will be conducive for all and sundry” CP Hussaini added.
The CP who commended Governor Matawalle for the warm reception accorded him on his arrival at the state, maintained that strengthening the existing security architecture of the state remains his primary motive throughout his tenure as Police Commissioner in the state
He also commended the IGP for deploying him to work as Zamfara CP and promised to do his best to discharge the mandate.
CP Hussaini Rabiu who described the role of media in the management of the current security crises confronting the state as enormous urged members of the media to continue to sustain their partnership with the police and other security agencies for effective and accurate information dissemination.
He also urged them to always verify information received before disseminating it in order to guard against spread of fake news which may be misleading.
He also used the opportunity of the press conference to assure the people of Zamfara that his tenure would have zero tolerance for human rights violation and other unprofessional misconduct by his officers and men.
He urged miscreants to key in to the peace deal of the state government by embracing peace or be dealt with decisively.
