Zamfara circle, a non-governmental organization, has written to Governor Bello Matawalle to as a matter of urgency settle the outstanding tuition and accommodation fees of Zamfara students sponsored by his government to study in India.
This is contained in a letter of appeal written by the organization and signed by the circle chairman Dr. Aminu Muhammad Lawal Tsafe a copy obtained by this medium.
Tsafe said “at the moment, the students are at the danger of being denied writing examination. They are equally being threatened to be evicted from their accommodation”.
He expressed concern that all the respective universities have written to the government with several reminders, but the state government is yet to give any favorable response.
“We are aware of the exchange rate challenge at the moment, we advise the State government to use the Form A option available at the commercial banks for payment of School fees at interbank exchange rate which is cheaper than the BDC exchange rate”.
The organization said, “while thanking his excellency for providing this great opportunity for our brothers and sisters, we sincerely hope that their plight will be given the necessary attention it deserves”.
