APC HAS NOT IMPROVED OUR PEOPLE’S LOT : FMR. ZAMFARA COMMISSIONER

Former Commissioner for Education and former Gubernatorial Candidate of the defunct CPC in the 2011 elections Mouktar Muhammad Lugga has formally declared his defection from the APC to the PDP citing his former Party’s failure in delivering the much needed dividend of democracy promised as his reason for defection.

Lugga who spoke exclusively to Thunder Blowers Managing Editor in Kaduna on Sunday lamented the gross disparity between what was promised to the people in 2015 and the reality of the present situation as of today.

According to him the message of hope which according to him provided the propulsion on which elections were won in 2015 has significantly waned as people have become disillusioned in the face of escalating issues of insecurity and severe economic conditions especially in Zamfara State and the Northwest.

” I recall when we joined the CPC in 2011 at a time when no one was ready to pick its gubernatorial ticket, we did the best we could to ensure victory for our Presidential Candidate. We not only put in place the entire structure of the Party in the State but vigorously pursued an aggressive fundraiser under the auspices of the BSO. It is on record besides Jigawa, Zamfara State raked in the second highest campaign contribution in Nigeria.”

Lugga decried the level growing spate of insecurity and the seeming disconnect with the plight of victims of insurgency. Citing an example, Lugga whose village was sacked by bandits recently recounted how armed men in their hundreds invaded their community killed and abducted people including women and children. For more than 9 months the villagers were forced into exile in neighbouring towns. The abducted persons were released after the payment of ransom. Till date no Government official has bothered to visit the community for a symphaty visit. It is as if the community and its people did not exist.

He said with this type of attitude from the APC he is very uncomfortable with the likely prospects of approaching such communities that have suffered the same fate or even worse, with another round of campaign proposition for 2023. In this vein rather than pretend all is well when its clearly isn’t Lugga decided to honourably resign his membership of the APC.
