APC STAR-WITNESS DR. BARAU DRILLS AT TRIBUNAL AS HE PROVIDES EVIDENCE ON ZAMFARA GOVERNORSHIP CASE

One of the star-witnesses of the APC at the Zamfara Governorship Tribunal, Dr. Mikailu Barau told the panel of judges that though Governor Dauda Lawal was declared winner of the 2023 governorship race, the process leading to his declaration as the winner of the election as faulty.

He stated that as card-carrying member of the APC he was not happy with the process presided over by the INEC because as an ethical person he knew what happened was wrong.

During cross-examination, Counsel to Dauda Lawal Chief Solomon Akuma, (SAN) asked Dr. Barau whether it is true that, the registration areas where elections do not hold were not secured. He stated that, “I am uncertain if the four registration areas where elections were not conducted were affected by insecurity”.

When asked if BVAS machine can be used during elections beyond the poling units, Barau told the tribunal that when there are disputes between parties regarding figures of accreditation, B-vas machines can be used at whatever level for settlement of such disputes.

Barau stated further that, to the best of his knowledge, BVAS machine was not used at the state collation center in Zamfara.

He was also asked why his name was not on the receipts of payments of CTC to the INEC but Barau insisted that the payments for all the CTC receipts were made through his lawyer Barr. Sule.

He was also asked consistently and by all the counsels whether if he was at all the poling units in Zamfara and also in all the Registration Areas when the election was ongoing. He stated that he was one of the state collation agents of the APC and that after voting he was at the state collation center but have their agents all over the poling units and Registration Areas.

SEN. YARI DONATES (13) TRUCKS OF MAIZE TO PEOPLE OF TALATAR MAFARA

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
