The former gubernatorial candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA said he had challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC over is attempt to cluster the polling units scheduled for the re-run bye election in Bakura.
Wamban Shinkafi who declared this during the Press Conference in Gusau on Monday said if the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria has not been amended, INEC has no power to temper with the voting arrangement especially introducing the cluster arrangement.
He noted that he told INEC that if it insisted on going ahead with the cluster arrangement he has no option than to drag INEC to court and seek for an interim injunction compelling the INEC to do what is necessary.
He said after extensive deliberations INEC has resolved that it will step down its earlier initiative of introducing clusters for the re-run election noting that the whole idea has been resolved.
He described as unfortunate the utterances by one of the APC member Alh Sani Garba Gusau at the meeting where he declared that if INEC insisted on going ahead with the re-run election on Saturday APC will import armed thugs to the election venue noting that, he threatened the INEC that whatever happened the electoral umpire should be blamed.
He used the opportunity to call on the State Commissioner of Police to invite Sani Garba Gusau for questioning noting that his utterances are inflammatory to the relative peace enjoyed by the state.
