The suspected bandits who abducted seven children of the factional chairman of All Progressive Congress APC in Maru local government area of Zamfara State Alh Gyare Kadauri have placed N50 million naira ransom as condition for the release of the abducted children.
It could be recalled that, Bashar, Abubakar, Haruna, Habibah, Sufyanu, Mubarak and Armiya, were kidnapped by suspected armed bandits last Friday in Kadauri village of Maru local government area of the state.
Gyare confirmed to news men that the bandits have placed a call on him and demanded for the ransom of N50 million naira.
“They called me and asked me to pay N50 million naira for the release of the seven children and warned that they would kill them if the money was not paid on time,” he stated.
He expressed worry that both Secretary to the State Government and indeed the Council Chairman have never called to sympathize with him or show their concern on the matter.
He told journalists that, he cannot afford to pay the amount requested by the bandits hence all the assets he possessed are not values to that sum requested.
He described as unfortunate how security operatives failed to curtail the attack even after being alerted in good time noting that the children were kidnapped unchallenged.
He appealed to the governments at all levels to come to his aid and work toward getting his children released by the abductors.
When contacted, the spokesperson of Zamfara Police Command SP Shehu Muhamamd explained that, the command is aware of the abduction of the children but denied knowledge of the demand of N50 million naira for ransom.
