The Federal government has again announced the suspension of the 2023 population and housing census, scheduled to begin in the early month of May.
According to a source, the decision was reached after hours of meeting between President Muhammad Buhari and the Chairman of the Commission, Nasir Isah Kwarra .
The source who craved for anonymity said the exercise was postponed as a result of some challenged the commission is facing in relation to the conduct of the exercise.
Earlier than now, the commission had once suspended the training of the ad-hoc staff who are to carry out the census exercise because of finance and logistic issues.
Minister of Information Mr. Lai Muhammad will announce the new date fixed by the federal government for the commencement of the exercise.
The Chairman of the commission in a meeting with the diplomatic corps announced the commission is yet to receive some devices required for the conduct of the exercise.
The chairman said, the commission required up to (800,000) tabs and so far, according to him, only (500,000) were made available.
