Some suspected gunmen had again invaded Damba Housing Estate in Gusau at the late hours of Sunday
According to the Managing Editor of this medium, the gunmen started shooting sporadically within the estate around 12:30pm, when the majority of the residents have retired to bed.
He said they were engaged by the local vigilante stationed in the area at the first instance, but later had to be supported by the army when the sounds of their gunfire continue to ring the air.
“They have shot one of the vigilante members, and he is currently on admission at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital and the Sole Administrator of Gusau local government has taken care of his medical bill”.
“This time around they came in large number, and they are over one hundred. They laid ambush around an upstairs at the tail end of the quarters and when the community vigilante noticed their suspicious movement and within the shortest possible time they started opening fire on the vigilante.
He added that based on the information the residents receives, the gunmen succeeded in abducting some married women within the estate.
Less than two weeks back, it could be recalled that same group of gunmen attacked the resident of ASUU Chairman of the Federal University Gusau which is located at Damba area and abducted five of his family members who are yet to be released.
They have also abducted another staff of the Federal University Gusau Alh. Abbas who is also yet to be released.
