Former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professor Abdullahi Mahadi has died. He died at the age of 77.
A renowned historian and an accomplished educationist, the late scholar had also served as vice chancellor of Gombe State university, and Gombe State University of Science and Technology.
He began his teaching career in 1984 as a senior lecturer in History at ABU and rose to become the vice chancellor between 1998 and 2004.
professor Mahadi Adamu was a recipient of a national honour of CON.
He was honored at the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, ISESCO Headquarters, Rabat, Morocco in 2017 by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on “The Environmental Management and Protection in the Islamic World”.
He had authored and co-authored several books among which is History of Nigeria for Schools and Colleges, Books I-II, (Longman, 1988).
