Governor Bello Matawalle has described the death of Nigerian Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru in a plane crash in Kaduna on Friday as a monumental loss to the country and army high command in specific.
In a statement by the Governor’s Spoke person Malam Yusuf Idris said, the Governor also condoles President Muhammad Buhari over the tragedy.
The Governor recalled that during the last visit of late Ibrahim Attahiru to Zamfara he assured him of his total support and cooperation in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities in Zamfara and Nigeria at large.
He described the late COAS as a great leader who led by example especially in the fight against insurgency, banditry and other security challenges across the State.
“As a gallant, well-trained Army officer, he dedicated his life in ensuring the unity of Nigeria and its territory”
Matawalle who described the demise of late Ibrahim Attahiru as shocking prayed for God almighty to grant him jannatul firdausi.
