GOV. BELLO MATAWALLE RECEIVES LEADERSHIP AWARD, CALLS FOR STAKEHOLDERS COLLABORATION ON FIGHT AGAINST ARMED BANDITRY.

Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has declared that, it is only when all stakeholders put hands on desk with sincerity of purpose, fight against banditry in the North may succeed.

Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication Malam Zailani Bappa who stood in for the Governor made the declaration at the 2020 Annual Leadership Award of the Leadership Newspapers which held at the International Conference Center, Abuja.

Bappa who spoke extensively on the measures put in place by Zamfara State government in fighting banditry, noted that the administration of Bello Matawalle has provided enough opportunities to bandits terrorizing people of Zamfara to repent from their bad ways, the result of which many of them repented and even assisted in the arrest of unrepentant ones and rescue of many kidnap victims.

He pointed out that the recent onslaught on the bandits by joint forces is to ensure the complete return of peace throughout the state, adding that the action is recording maximum successes.

He congratulated the staff and management of the Leadership Newspapers for successfully organizing the 2020 award ceremony as well as the recipients of the awards whom he said deserved the awards.

The event was chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar lll, Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo as Special Guest, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha and the Chairman of Nigerian Governor’s Forum and governor of Ekiti State, Chief Kayode Fayemi

Also in attendance was the President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina who served as the Guest Speaker.

The theme of the event was “National and Regional Insecurity: The Role of Political and Non-Political Actors in Stabilization and Consensus Building.”.

The Governor’s representative was accompanied to the event by the Director-General on Media, Public Enlightenment and Communications, Alhaji Yusuf Idris

SEN. YARI DONATES (13) TRUCKS OF MAIZE TO PEOPLE OF TALATAR MAFARA

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
