GOV. BELLO MATAWALLE THREATENS COMMERCIAL BANKS OVER NEW NAIRA NOTES SCARCITY

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State today visited the Gusau branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN as well as five other Commercial Banks in Gusau, the state capital.

The Banks visited by the Governor included United Bank for Africa, UBA, Jaiz Bank, Eco Bank and First Bank.

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle during the visit warned the commercial Banks against hoarding of the new Naira notes.

The Governor also directed Bank officials to dispense the new Naira notes via the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and at the Banking Halls.

He said his visit to the Commercial Banks was to assess the problems being faced by the citizens in trying to access new Naira notes via long queues at ATMs amidst complaint of acute Naira note scarcity.

Governor Matawalle therefore warned that his administration will not hesitate to revoke the land of any commercial Bank that is not willing to ensure that their ATM Machines are dispensing new Naira notes in order to ease the sufferings of the people.

Earlier, the Governor visited the Gusau branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN where he invited the Comptroller of CBN, Gusau branch to accompany him to some branches of Commercial Banks in the state capital in order to assess the problems being encountered by customers while trying to get the new Naira notes.

The Matawallen Maradun expressed concern over the long queues of people at the ATMs in some branches of the Banks and called on the managers to find means of easing the hardship being faced by the customers.

The Governor urged the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN to ensure the availability of new Naira notes at the commercial Banks for people to access their money in order to conduct their daily activities with relative ease.

According to the Governor’s Press Secretary Jamilu Iliyasu Birnin Magaji, during the visit, Governor Matawalle also inspected safety measures put in place at the Banking Halls and the ATM cash dispensing points.

SEN. YARI DONATES (13) TRUCKS OF MAIZE TO PEOPLE OF TALATAR MAFARA

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
