GUNMEN INVADED RINI TOWN IN ZAMFARA, ABDUCTS OVER SEVENTY PERSONS
Some suspected gunmen numbering close to fifty armed with deadly weapons invaded Rini town in Bakura local government area of Zamfara State and abducted over seventy persons.
According to a confided source, the gunmen arrived the town at around 2:30 am on Friday and started shooting sporadically, noting that though people refused to come out of their homes despite heavy gunshots that were springing on the air, the bandits succeeded in abducting over seventy persons in the town.
“When they came they carried out the attacks in three strategic locations first at Sabon Gari then moved to Makarantar Boko and later the central part of Rini town “a source added.
He said as at the time of launching the attack no intervention was made by the security agencies despite several calls made but explained that later in the day two hilux full of soldiers came to the town spent some hours and left.
He explained further that, as at the time of Jumuat prayer, people are still in the town and may not likely leave adding that several appeals have been made to the government to provide more security reinforcement for the people of the Rini area.
Zamfara Police Spokesperson SP Shehu Muhammad confirmed the incident but report that the figure of those abducted based on the record from the police stand at sixty six.
He explained that the police command has already deployed adequate number of its tactical personals with a view to making sure that the people have been rescued.
