Residents of Gummi local government in Zamfara state had continued to cried out for what they termed as molestation and harassment by some suspected bandits.
A source told BBC Hausa service that, majority part of Zamfara south has been under constant bandit threat for longer time.
A source who confided on the BBC Hausa service said, since after Sallah celebration, farmers hardly goes to their farms because of the constant armed bandit attacks.
“Many villages along Gummi west have been deserted even as bandits rustles livestock including camels, cow, and sheep and as I speak to you, people of the area have been bastardized by the activities of the armed bandits”.
“All communities around Daki Takwas, Dille, Gwalli, Barikin Daji and rest had all being deserted by the residents.
People have been forced to move to Gummi local government headquarters since their security cannot be granted at their respective localities.
He appealed to the President of Nigeria to come to their help since the state government could not confront the bandits to finishing.
“We have not underestimate the effort of the state government toward reconciling with these bandits but from all indications, the reconciliation has failed and the federal government should either negotiate with them again or fight them to finishing”.
