A citizen of Zamfara Sulaiman Tukur has taken to his Facebook page to call the attention of Zamfara state government to come to the aide of the people of Kiyawa district in Birnin Magaji local government whom he said are under siege of armed bandits.

He wrote that armed bandits are mindlessly terrorizing the people of Kiyawa district day and night.

He said, “I wish to write unequivocally and draw the attention of all security stakeholders of Zamfara state and by extension, Nigeria that Kiyawa ward of Birnin Magaji Local Government Area in Zamfara state is ”’under the siege of the arm bandits”’ who are mindlessly terrorizing the people of the said area pertinaciously day and night!”.

“It is not denying the fact that the persistence of insecurity challenges bedeviling this area was not privy to the government and security agencies of our state for so long. But unfortunately, the people of the affected area had been taken for granted as there is no remarkable effort being put in the place to tackle the menace”.

“It is a well known fact that the primary responsibility of government at all levels is to secure the lives and properties of its citizens by using the available security agencies/armed forces at its disposal.But,government has turned a blind eyes on this serious matter by failing to deploy its security personnels to that strategic area.Can you believe me that there is no single security agent in the entire Kiyawa ward with over ten thausand people by population? We are on our own! We are virtually under the control of these culprits who had become our ‘monarchs’ as there are no security agents to repel their dictatorship and inforce law and order within the area” He added.

“Recently the perpetrators has attacked my home town,NASARAWA MAILAYI (the headquarters of Kiyawa ward) for three consecutive time between 17th to 30th of this March,2019 for a house-to-house ruthless operations.Concurrently,almost all our domestic animals has been rustled;shops has been broken and take away everything;women has been raped and alot of people has been maimed,to mention but a few.As a result,about 85 percent of the residents of the area has been displaced of which most of the victims are women and under-age children.What a pity”!

He urged the security agencies and indeed the government to do the needful by deploying adequate security personnel if possible permanently in the area in order to ensure the safety of the people
