One of the staffers of National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) Pharmacist J.J Shallangwa who doubled as Zamfara State SORMAS Surveillance officer allegedly died of Corona Virus at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau on 22nd June, 2020.
According to some confidential sources, who spoke to Thunder Blowers Online News Media, the late Shallangwa was alleged to have came to Zamfara State on the evening of 21st June 2020 for a scheduled meeting on the next day but went sick and requested for an ambulance to convey him to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital for medical attention before he died on arrival.
It was alleged that, Mr Shallangwa who had been a regular visitor to Zamfara since the outbreak of the pandemic is alleged to have contracted the virus during his routine activities of Covid-19 management in the state.
Confirming the incident, Zamfara State Commissioner for Health Yahaya Kanoma, informed Thunder Blowers that, based on the information he had, it is true that, the late supervisor died on arrival at the Yariman Bakura Specialist hospital after he called for a help from his hotel room that he was not feeling fine.
On the rumours that the state has stopped taking sampling for taste, the Commissioner noted that it was not true that, they have stopped taking samples for taste hence on alert from any health facility in the state the technical committee used to respond with the. needed urgency.
He noted that, even on Friday, some samples have been sent to Abuja and that the technical personnel working on Covid-19 are actively doing their job on alert.
The Commissioner explained that, people have been criticising the state for not conducting community sampling as required by the NCDC but noted that, that approach cannot work in places like Zamfara State.
