(OUR STAND)

The recent attack on one of the APC Chieftain Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi Wambai by some group of political thugs has opened another chapter of crises of confidence, especially among the political elites of the APC.

It could be recall that, Wamban Shinkafi was attacked by some armed youths allegedly loyal to some APC stakeholders in Zamfara.

He was allegedly attack based on their testimony that Wamban Shinkafi has been critical of Bello Matawalle and that they would not spare anyone that continue to be critical of Matawalle.

These same group of thugs had last week attacked one of the APC supporters, Barr. Muhammad Hassan Maru on the same basis of being critical of Minister Bello Matawalle.

This ugly development is really becoming alarming hence people of Zamfara are becoming skeptical about sustaining the hard-earned peace obtained by Zamfara State.

It is important we remind these political elites of the APC in Zamfara that contrary to what they have failed to do, the present administration has issued a stand banning political thuggery in its entirety.

The steps taken by government of Dauda Lawal has brought a realistic manifestation of political sanity within the state.

He has re-engaged the youth in a more productive means and that has boosted the morale of the citizens of Zamfara to believed with the political maturity of Governor Dauda Lawal.

It is significant for Zamfara State government led by Dauda Lawal to revisit its stand on ban on political thuggery before the situation gets out of hand.

We presume that, the state government led by Dauda Lawal shall take the further steps of signing an “executive order” to provide severe penalty for the sponsors of political thuggery in Zamfara and the actors.

This is essential because considering the volatile nature of Zamfara State this steps need to be instituted to ensure that the relative peace enjoyed by the people of Zamfara is sustained.

We make this clarion call to Governor Dauda to as a matter of public interest wed into this matter and make the position of his government boldy clear and known to the people that he is not in support of political thuggery.

As for the APC stakeholders especially the Minister of State Defense whose name was captured repeatedly in the video footage of the two incidents he needs to come out in the open and distances himself from these thugs if he has no knowledge about their actions.

Some people had already attributed these recent development to the statement made by Minister Bello Matawalle during his Xmass visit to Zamfara where he asked his supporters to deal decisively with his critics.

Unless such is done people of Zamfara may not be convinced that he has no hand in this ugly recent development.

May God save Zamfara people.
