Zamfara State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs Abubakar Justice Dauran has described as malicious the recent story published by Sahara reporters an online news medium alleging that Zamfara State Government has procured Hilux Van to repentant bandits.
The Commissioner who reacted to the Sahara reporters story through a Press Conference held in Gusau on Tuesday said it was evident that throughout Nigeria, Zamfara is the only state that procured over 200 operational vehicles and donated to security agencies simply in order to ease their operations.
He said it would be mischievous for a media outfit to allege that the same government that procured these number of vehicle to security agencies can also donated vehicles to bandits.
“We have made inquiries and to the best of our findings there is no soldier operating in Zamfara State that spoke with Sahara reporters or any media outlets and as such we consider the story by Sahara reporters as malicious and politically motivated” Dauran added.
He said Sahara reporters is only dancing to the tune of the political opposition who are desperate to see that peace has not return to Zamfara and vowed to take decisive measures if it has not taken the right steps to retract the malicious story.
He said his Ministry in collaboration with that of Justice will definitely take a legal action against the online news medium if it has failed to do what is necessary.
