Members of Zamfara House of Assembly have passed a unanimous resolution calling on the state government to consider re-opening of schools to enhance teaching and learning.
According to the house spokesperson Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the resolution was passed after a member representing Maru Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma moved a motion on the need for the reopening of schools in Zamfara state.
While describing the continued closure of schools in Zamfara as catastrophic, he described as urgent the need for the government to apply tactical measures on security and get the schools opened for academic activities.
Kanoma further said since the relative peace enjoyed by the people of the state had resulted in opening of some weekly markets and telecommunication network, there is the compelling need to open schools in Zamfara.
He recommends that, for a start, all final year female boarding schools located in Moriki, Kwatarkwashi and female day secondary schools in Gusau should be moved to GGASS Gusau.
He further suggested that, those at the day schools in Shinkafi, Zurmi and Birnin Magaji be moved to GTC Kaura Namoda
He recommended further that, same arrangements shall be made at Mafara zone with a location in Talatar Mafara.
He recommended that there should be synergy between the conventional operatives, vigilante, and host communities so that security can be strengthened
Speaker Magarya directed the secretariat of the House to convey the house resolution to the secretary to the state government for action.
