An APC chieftain in Zamfara Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa has declared that the shutdown of communication network has done more bad than good to the people of Zamfara State.
The former Senator who made the declaration when he featured at the Channel’s TV show “politics today” on Friday said, the shutdown of the Communication network is all about suppressing the people of Zamfara from aiding themselves from the armed bandit activities.
Marafa said when the network was active and bandits attempted to launch attack on any community people can make calls and scout for help, noting that, now attacks on Zamfara communities continue unabated and people could not be communicated for help.
He alleged that, there might be a connivance between the Minister of Communication Ali Pantami and Zamfara State government over the continued suspension of Communication network, advising that the Minister needed to have the fear Allah.
He lamented that as a result of the effect of suspension of communication network, few days back seven mobile police officers were brutally murdered by the bandits simply because they don’t have access to communication and seek for re-enforcement while the bandits do have.
He added that the closure of markets, non selling of petroleum products all have no effects on the bandits since when they kidnapped someone, they usually set out conditions to include bringing jerricans of fuel and many other things.
