The national leadership of the two unions directed branch chairmen to convey this decision via a Congress meeting to be held on Monday 4th November 2024 and ensure that members resume work on Tuesday the 5th of November 2024.

The statement added that as a result of high-level discussion between the leadership of the two unions with the new Minister of Education, his counterpart from Finance and the Department of State Security Services it was resolved that additional two months of the withheld salaries of the members would be settled in a staggered form to enable the issue be resolved.

The unions also thanked their members across the branches for their resilience in joining the strike action and ensuring strict compliance.

They assured that discussion is ongoing over N50 billion in earned allowances, minimum wage award, arrears of 25/35 the remaining two months withheld salaries among others, noting that the unions are hopeful that things would work better.
