As armed banditry and other criminal activities continue to dominate some states in North Western Nigeria especially, Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina, some displaced persons have continue to lament on their bad experiences which include food shortage, lack of accommodation, basic social means of survival and loss of their family ones.
In Batsari one of the local government in Katsina currently affected by the bandits activities, estimate has shown that over 600 women loss their husbands and they are now turned to be widows in search of the means of livelihood.
It was also reported that, there are over 2000 children that are rendered as orphans by the bandits activities hence their parents and bread winners have been brutally killed in the renewed social violence affecting most part of Katsina state.
The District Head of Batsari Alh Muazu Ruma, said with the renewed banditry in Katsina State, his people are daily being attacked and killed by the bandits with out adequate protection by the security agencies.
He told BBC Hausa service in an interview on Tuesday that majority of the residents of in his domain have fled their homes due to fear of murderous attacks by the bandits while close to 43% of the local farmers have abandoned their farmlands due to constant threat by the bandits.
He noted further that, majority of the house holds who fled out of Batsari are taking refuge at Katsina City, Kaduna and Gombe adding that, Batsari has now become an abandoned community for lack of adequate security.
He noted further that all the animals owned by his people have been delibrately rustled and that despite the presence of the military operatives, they are yet not able to engage the bandits at the forest may be for reasons that they are not instructed to fight.
