Zamfara State Commissioner of Information Ibrahim Magaji Dosara has told Governor Matawalle that for the two months he served as the state Commissioner for information he was given the deserving opportunities to serve his state better than when he was serving another former Governor.
Dosara who was apparently referring to former Governor Abdulazeez Yari whom he served as media aid insisted that he will do everything possible to promote the integrity of the present government of Bello Matawalle by selling out its good imagery.
Dosara made the statement during an iftar with Governor Matawalle who hosted media practitioners, heads of media organizations and members of Zamfara RATTAWU in his Gusau residence on Sunday.
He acknowledged that the present administration in Zamfara is determined to build a cordial working relationship with the media practitioners so that accurate and factual information can be disseminated to the public.
On the fight against spread of fake news, Dosara said, his office in collaboration with the State Commissioner of Police and Department of State Security Services are working hand in hand to ensure that any journalist who shared a fake new is invited to probe his facts or be made to face the wrath of the law.
He cited references with the recent scenario where NUJ Zamfara suspended one of its member over spread of fake news noting that it took the intervention of his ministry to plead for his reinstatement even though the union had insisted that the suspension remains.
He commended the journalists for sustaining a cordial working relationship with the government of Matawalle whom he described as “media practitioner”.
He tactically brands name the Governor as “Garkuwan Yanjaridu” in Hausa adage meaning the “the defender of media practitioners “.
