The leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara has appealed to the security agencies to renew commitment in fishing out those that are planning to manipulate the forthcoming governorship election in Zamfara State.
The Publicity Secretary of the party, Mal. Yusuf Idris Gusau who stated this in a press release on Saturday insisted that, the arrest of a PDP supporters with tags of various political parties is an eye-opener of the fact that the PDP is planning to rig the forthcoming 2023 Governorship election at all cost.
He reminded the security agencies on the need to use whatever means possible to arrest those trying to cause confusion before, during and after the Governorship election in the state.
He described the call as a necessity considering how one of the PDP supporters in the state, Naziru Ibrahim popularly known as Naziru Abuja printing tags for all the political parties that are to participate in the Governorship election.
Based on reliable information available to the APC Mal. Idris said, Naziru often in his arrest had confessed that he was working for the PDP.
“In his Gusau residence during the arrest, the suspect was found to have installed machines that would be used in printing different INEC cleared documents such as the agent cards to confuse the agents officially deployed by the respective political parties from the fake and possibly in the fracas that may ensue, the PDP can hatch its plans to disrupt the elections process”.
“Recall that even before the last Presidential/National Assembly elections we raised alarm of some printers working for the PDP and located in the Canteen Area of Gusau metropolis” Mr Idris added.
Idris also alleged that during the last Presidential election, his party, the APC has raised concern over the proliferation of fake documents, especially result sheets which were allegedly used in changing the election result.
He pointed in his statement that the suspect was alleged to have confessed that he was working directly under the supervision of Mrs Lubuna Baba Gusau.
“Currently, the PDP is singing a slogan ‘kowa agent,’ (everyone is an agent) in the coming election, they are already printing agent cards, who knows what they are perpetrating in the rural areas,” Idris added.
He therefore called on the security agencies to act with the desired speed and arrest the situation before things get out of hand.
