About six people were abducted by some suspected bandits in Kaura Namoda local government area of Zamfara State on Saturday.
The bandits according to the source came to the town intending to abducting some identified number of individuals but when they could not succeed they went after the six people reported earlier including a woman.
Zamfara Police Spokesman SP Shehu Muhammad who confirmed the incident stated that, armed mobile police men had been deployed by the command as additional re-enforcement aimed at ensuring that the victims have been rescued.
Shehu added that despite the security challenges poised by the armed bandit activities in some part of Zamfara State, the command was able to rescue about fourteen (14) abductees from the hand of the popular bandit leader (Dogo Sule).
SP Shehu also confirmed that police had succeeded in destroying his bandit hideout located at Munhaye in Tsafe local government area of the state.
He also stated that those rescued from (Dogo Sule) had spent over (68) days in abduction and among them were (2) men and (7) women and the rest were children of small ages.
