The All Progressive Congress APC Zamfara state has called on the Chief of Army staff to be wary of the manner in which military operatives were used in harassing and intimidating voters in the March 18th Governorship poll.
According to a statement by the party spokesman in the state Mal. Yusuf Idris Gusau he said the essence of calling his attention is to prevent the occurrence of such incident in the forthcoming Saturday’s supplementary poll.
Yusuf explained that since the army used in the last Governorship election without the knowledge of the military high command, PDP knew that it was not going to be possible for them to use a similar deal to win the election.
Idris, who described that PDP, is already scared of losing the scheduled supplimentary election, noted that APC will resist any further attempt to use force against the Zamfara voters.
Idris in the statement also urged the police not to be deterred by the chief blackmail of the PDP members and discharge their statutory function as provided for by the law of the land.
The APC Spokesperson explained that the PDP is already scared of the forthcoming supplementary election because it knew fully that it resorted to using the military in rigging the last Governorship election in Zamfara State.
Idris on behalf of the APC commended the people of Zamfara for standing with the APC and for maintaining law and order despite the intimidation they have faced and urged them to come out on Saturday the 15th of April 2023 and vote for the APC.
On the accusation labelled against Governor Matawalle for allegedly using the police to intimidate the PDP supporters, Idris said, if Matawalle had taken advantage of the relationship PDP would have not used the army to manipulate the last Governorship election.
“Matawalle is a peace-loving gentleman who will stop at nothing for the safety of his people and this is a principle no one can deny him of, so the PDP should face what they have caused Zamfara people and stop the unwarranted blame ”.
Recall that when the electoral umpire declared Dauda Lawal Dare as the winner of the March 18, governorship election in the state, PDP thugs took to the street to vandalize government, APC and individual properties for celebration.
