Governor Bello Matawalle has assented into law the repealed act on Zamfara House of Assembly Service Commission (Establishment Law).
The new law will, among other things, provide a complete administrative autonomy for the State Legislative Arm.
With the new law, the Clerk has now been accorded the status and entitlements of the Head of Service while the Deputy Clerks Administration and General Services and Deputy Clerk legislative matters the equal status of Permanent Secretary respectively.
The commission has in line with the provision of section 14, 18 and 21 of the laws submitted to His Excellency, the State Executive Governor for confirmation, the names of Alhaji Shehu Saídu Anka as Clerk and Head of Legislative Services, Mahmud Aliyu as Deputy Clerk/Permanent Secretary Administration and General Services and that of Yusuf Sabo Tsafe as Deputy Clerk/ Permanent Secretary Legislative Matters.
According to the statement by the house spokesperson Nasir Usman Biyabiki, “the appointments have already been confirmed by the State Executive Governor and is in conformity with what is being practiced in some State Legislative Houses from both north and southern parts of the country”.
Speaker Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya commended Governor Bello Muhammad for assenting the law and called on the appointed officers to work for the development of the State to justify the confidence reposed in them.
