Zamfara State Deputy Governor Barr. Mahadi Aliyu Gusau has accused Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly Nasiru Muazu Magarya and members of the state house of assembly of disobeying court order asking parties in the case instituted by the National headquarters of the PDP to maintain status quo pending determination of the matter before it.
The deputy governor who raised the allegations while addressing a press conference on Thursday said the PDP lawyer Mr. Emanuel Okala SAN had already written a letter to the speaker of Zamfara state house of assembly drawing his attention to the court order issued in the suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/650/2021: PDP VS INEC & 5 others.
In the suit, Barr. Mahadi Aliyu Gusau is challenging the vires of members of Zamfara State House of Assembly in their attempt to commence impeachment or any proceedings against him as the duly elected deputy governor of Zamfara State.
It could be recall that Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma member representing one of the state constituencies in Maru had raised a motion demanding for the appearance of the state Deputy Governor and State Police Commissioner to explain the circumstances behind the rally conducted by Mahadi Aliyu during a mourning period when over Fourth people were killed in Faru area of Maradun local government.
After the expiration of the ultimate day for the appearance of the state Deputy Governor, the deputy house leader Nasiru Lawal Bungudu requested for additional 48 hours for the deputy governor to appear before the house,, but instead Mahadi Aliyu chooses to write to the members and also address a press conference.
Mahadi further said ” I am constrained to draw the attention of the public to this ugly situation in the matter in the hope that well-meaning citizens and people of good will will call the house of assembly of Zamfara State to order and impress upon them the need to obey the subsisting court order of the court and respect the judicial process to exercise restraint and await the outcome”.
