ZAMFARA INFORMATION COMMISSIONER SENT MESSAGE OF WARNING TO JOURNALISTS
Zamfara State Commissioner for Information Ibrahim Dosara has called for restraint in media practitioners in the state from releasing reports that either incite members of the public or discouraged the Nigerian security operatives from the onslaught against terrorists operating in the state.
The Commissioner spoke at a one-day capacity training organized by the 2021 credential committee of the NUJ legacy newspaper chapel held in Gusau on Thursday.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information Barr. Sani Nasarawa also called on the media practitioners to operate within the tenets and ethics of journalism profession and warned quacks and social media practitioners to desist from infiltrating in to the profession with their unethical tendencies.
“We should always be mindful of the fact that there is no report that is equal to human. We should therefore try as much as possible to avoid such reports that can cause mischiefs and confusion leading to the loss of lives and property of our people”.
“Governor Bello Muhammed Mutawallen Maradun has been doing all it takes to ensure the safety of lives and property of Zamfara people and should be supported to do even more, in this direction” the Commissioner added.
He also commended the contribution of the media practitioners in the development of the state.
