Zamfara State Police Command said it’s tactical team in union with other security agencies have repelled an attack by hundred of armed bandits who planned to invade Shinkafi town on Friday.
In a statement by the police Spokesperson SP Shehu Muhammad said, the bandits who planned the attack are from the camp of one of the popular notorious bandits named “Turji”.
Shehu often said the receipt of the information, the joint security operatives engaged the bandits in a gun battle aimed at saving the lives of innocent people of Shinkafi.
He said during the gun battle which lasted for an hour, one of the bandits was fatally injured while others escaped with heavy gunshot wounds.
SP Shehu said the state police Commissioner Ayuba Elkana instructed for redeployment of more troops to compliment the effort of the existing security architecture in Shinkafi and also build the confidence of the citizens.
“The Commissioner of Police further commended the resilience of the operatives and charged them to sustain the tempo so that the state can be adequately protected,” Shehu added.
