Zamfara state chapter of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled the conduct of its state congresses for Monday the 27th of December 2021 before things fall apart.
At around 9:00am delegates started arriving at the venue of the congresses located inside one oil mill at Samaru Gusau when political thugs alleged to be loyal to the ruling APC invaded the venue with dangerous weapons and destroyed the entire facilities fixed for the conduct of the party congresses.
They destroyed all canopies and chairs provided for the delegates, sets part of them on fire and also crashed some unspecified number of vehicles belonging to the PDP delegates
After chasing away all the delegates from the venue, they later moved to the PDP headquarters located opposite state Ministry of Finance and crashed-down all the party flags erected.
One of the delegates Umar Ibrahim from Maru local government who escaped the invasion told this medium that, the Civil Defense officials earlier deployed as at the time the thugs invaded the venue were overpowered due to the dangerous nature of the weapons the thugs were allegedly carrying.
The atmosphere became relatively peaceful with the deployment of armed police men and civil defense operatives who take charge of the security of the area
Later on due to some strategic security reasons, the conduct of the PDP congresses was moved to the Gusau Command Guest-in where delegates assembled to continue with their business activities.
As at 1:00pm the arrangement for the conduct of the PDP state Congresses is on the top gear and the State Deputy Governor Mahadi Aliyu and other top party officials including members of the caretaker committee have arrived to the venue for the commencement of the activity
ZAMFARA APC IS SCARED OF OUR STRENGTH (PDP CHIEFTAIN)
One of the officials of the PDP who doubled as the Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the Deputy Governor Aminu Gyangyam finger pointed at the ruling APC for masterminding the atrocities against their planned congresses, noting that they are afraid of the strength of the PDP in Zamfara state.
“They fear the PDP, and they believed the best way to show their fear is to make sure that they frustrated our state congresses, and you have seen for yourself delegates are more than determined to ensure that the state congresses took place and the party leaders emerged”.
He described as childish how the ruling APC led by Governor Bello Matawalle is ridiculing its self so low to fighting opposition party that is known to be peaceful and conducting its legitimate activity.
“Governor Matawalle should know that this party brought him to power, and this should not be the types of reward he shall pay the party with”.
APC MATAWALLE FACTION IS SENDING DANGEROUS SIGNAL AHEAD OF 2023 ELECTIONS (SPOKESPERSON, APC MARAFA FACTION
The Spokesperson of APC Sen. Kabir Marafa faction Bello Bakyasuwa has described what happened at the venue of Zamfara PDP Congress as a very dangerous signal to what may likely be going to happen during the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Bakyasuwa who spoke to this medium on phone said, similar attack was carried out by same group of THUGS loyal to Matawalle APC faction during the conduct of the parallel congress by Marafa faction.
“What they have repeated today is highly condemnable and this shows that they are planning to crash democracy in its entirety in Zamfara state noting that the entire world need to know that democracy is on trial in Zamfara state.
He called on the security agencies to be more alive and ensure that the perpetrators of this undemocratic acts are arrested and brought to book.
He noted further that such threat would not deter Sen. Marafa faction and indeed all his supporters from carrying out their legitimate political activities in line with the laid down rule and regulations
ZAMFARA PDP HAS HISTORY OF CRISES DURING EVERY CONGRESS (APC SPOKESPERSON
In a swift reaction, the Publicity Secretary of the APC Zamfara state Yusuf Idris Gusau said, APC has no hand in what is going on noting that it is completely an internal problem of the PDP.
“They are the architect of their problem we heard that some powerful persons are planning to enforce candidates on them, especially Col. Bala Mande and Shatiman Rijiya as Chairman and Secretary and some people within the party are eying for some alternative candidates, so they might be the ones to instigate the crises within their party.
Idris said APC should not be dragged into what is happening, noting that PDP has a record of having crises whenever they want to conduct Congresses and the record is there from 1999 to date.
“The Governor as the Chief Security officer of the state issued them clearance to go ahead and conduct their congresses so how would he allow his party supporters to go and distract what he has played it does not make any sense at all” Idris added
Former Speaker of Zamfara House of Assembly Sanusi Garba Rikiji of the APC has scored a total of (229) votes to defeat the PDP who polls (61) votes only.
His poling unit is Rumfar Galadima (013) in Gusau the capital city of Zamfara State.
As for the result of the state house of assembly in his poling units, APC scored a total of (232) to defeat the PDP who polls (51) votes.
Rikiji is currently the house of reps candidate for Gusau and Tsafe in the 2023 election, whose election was declared inclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He is contesting the seat together with the serving members Kabiru Amadu Mai Palace, who is from the opposition PDP.
The Chairman of Zamfara State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Ali Akilu Dama Bungudu has also delivered his poling unit.
His party the APC scored a total (173) to defeat the PDP who scored (111) votes.
Similar votes were also recorded for both political parties at the level of State assembly elections.
Similarly, Zamfara State Commissioner for Works Rabiu Garba Gusau has delivered his poling units with a wide margin to defeat the PDP.
APC scored (96) votes to defeat the opposition People’s Democratic Party, which scored (16) votes for both the Governorship election and state assembly for Gusau (1) at his poling unit.
A political ally of former Governor Yari Sha’ayau Yusuf S. Paws has defeated PDP in his Township Primary school poling unit in Talatar Marafa local government area of Zamfara State.
According to an official result sheet, the politician who is a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) scored (502) votes to defeat the PDP who scored (0) votes.
The politician has made history since 2015 by maintaining the only poling units which opposition party has never won a single vote during election.
He repeated the same history during the 2023 Presidential and national assembly elections conducted three weeks back, when PDP failed to score a single vote.
