Zamfara State Police Command has announced that two of its operatives have been killed in an encounter with some armed bandits in Magami town of Gusau local government on Saturday.
SP Shehu Muhammd the Police Spokes person who announced this through a statement issued on Sunday said, the encounter was a result of the effort to repel an attack by some suspected bandits who stormed the area in their large numbers.
Shehu said the police operatives have succeeded in neutralizing unspecified number of bandits with many of them suspected to have escaped with a possible gun shot wounds.
Shehu said, the attack was successfully repelled while no member of the community was killed or wounded throughout the period of the encounter.
The statement added that, normalcy has been restored as the State Police Commissioner deployed additional tactical operatives to the area to complement the ongoing bush combing operations.
The CP also called on the Police operatives in the command to defend themselves and the community during any encounter with the bandits.
