Over (200) owners of landed properties at Daza village of Gusau local government area of Zamfara state had staged a peaceful protest over what they termed as the “alleged plans by the state Directorate of Lands to seize their landed properties without due valuation and payment of compensation”.
The protestors who were looking visibly angry informed this medium that they have staged their peaceful protest in order for the Governor of Zamfara to know their circumstances and enforce the Directorate of Lands to do the needful by paying them the deserving compensation on their landed properties to be confiscated .

They wondered why the Directorate had started making a lay-out of their landed properties without either contacting them for proper valuation or paying them for compensation as instructed by the Governor.
Chairman of the protestors who spoke angrily during the session recalled how the previous administration of Yari seized component part of their landed properties at Daza and develop housing estates without paying the land owners a dime a circumstances he said which put many families in a very serious hardship.
“Your Excellency we had a terrible experience during the past administration as hundreds of our people lost their landed properties to similar housing projects without recourse to doing justice to our members. That singular incidence caused a very serious hardship to our people and it is our hope that this time around under your watch justice will be done to us”.

“We have laboured hard to secure money and owned these landed properties. Your Excellency some of us are nail cutters, other are Okada riders and all of us are indigenes of Zamfara and we believe we deserved justice. Our collective efforts have attracted many people to come down to Daza area and pick pieces of land and develop it. We are sure this is what attracted the Directorate of Lands to identify this particular portion of Gusau town and recommend it for the proposed (600) units of housing projects”.
“His Excellency we are demanding for justice from the Zamfara Directorate of Lands and we are sure under your watch we shall not be cheated because we are equally important citizens of Zamfara that you needed their support much”.
The Chairman however warned that Zamfara state government shall be concern about the security situation of Zamfara state and try avoid some circumstances that would push the anger of the people as that alone will influence them to became frustrated and by implication resorted to venturing into another form of criminality.
