The Chairman of Zamfara State Board of Internal Revenue Service Ali Akilu Dama Bungudu has threatened that, very soon, they may declare First Bank Zamfara State branch for sale.
Dama who stated this when he featured on Thunder Blowers TV show in Gusau on Thursday said, the decision come as a result of the refusal of the first bank in Zamfara to settle its backlog of tax payable to the state board of internal revenue service despite several demand notices issued to them.
“First bank Zamfara are supposed to pay Zamfara State government about N600M, and we have issued several demand notices including warning letters to them, but they refused to respond appropriately”.
He noted that the law has empowered the board of Internal Revenue to declare any asset for sale if the owner failed to remit tax due for payment to the state, noting that very soon the board will move to that stage.
He stated further that the board will continue to enforce sanction on those private corporate entities in Zamfara State that failed to remit appropriate tax due to the state since the law is obvious about who pay what and what point
