The federal government has commended Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle for making Zamfara State to be among the top leading states in the just concluded common entrance examination for the graduating primary school pupils which was organized by the NECO.
According to the result, Zamfara become first among the 19 Northern States and 14th amongst the 36 States of the federation and FCT.

Minister of State for education Chukwu Emeka Nwajuba who handed down the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the State Government House Gusau on Monday, described the steps taken by the administration of Bello Matawalle in reviving the education sector as impressive noting that, the state is now becoming more active and alive on matters related to educational activities.
He noted further that before now, the state has the worst figure of 148,000 out of school children who were either denied access to formal education or could not be integrated for reasons of lack of provision of access by the government.

He acknowledged with keen interest that, because of Matawalle’s peaceful disposition, the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU identified with him as one of the instruments that can be used in brokering peace between them and federal government.
In his remarks, Governor Bello Matawalle who promised to sustain the track of his administration in reviving the education sector assured that his government will continue to fulfil all its obligations and commitments to the federal government and other international development partners for the state to be able to access  more grants and interventions for the achievements of its target objectives on education.

The governor noted that his administration will continue to engage the best hands and professionals in all sectors of the development so that the state can be able to compete favourably with its peers in the country.
The Governor used the opportunity of the Minister’s visit to appeal to the federal government to consider the option of facilitating a waiver for the over 3 billion naira debt which is to be paid to WAEC and NECO by the state so that the money can be used in developing other alternative components of the education sector of the state.
