The over 300 abducted students from Government Science Secondary Schools Kankara in Katsina State have been rescued and handed over to the officials of Zamfara State Government on Thursday night.
Breaking the News, Secretary to Zamfara State Government Alh Bala Bello Maru who spoke exclusively to Thunder Blowers said he and some other state government officials in company of security agencies have taken custody of the freed children.
The SSG noted that Zamfara State Government has so far received (344) students from the bandits and that, they will be evacuated to Gusau the state capital.
As at the time of filing this story, the SSG said he is leading the delegation together with freed students to the headquarters of the military in Gusau the Zamfara State Capital where they would be hosted to pass their night before they are subjected to comprehensive medical evaluation.
The Secretary to the State Government also said, as soon as arrangement has been concluded he will lead the state government delegation to Katsina to hand over the abducted students to Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
Bala Bello Maru further said Zamfara State government led by Governor Bello Matawalle supported the initiative of freeing the abducted students of Government Science Secondary School Kankara and that nothing was paid as ransom by the government.
The SSG further said, Bello Muhammad Matawalle has made adequate provision for the movement of these students to Katsina State tomorrow (Friday).
It could be recalled that, few days back it was reported that, over 300 students of Government Science Secondary School Kankara were abducted by some suspected gunmen and moved them to Zamfara forest.
The development attracted global attention as President Muhammad Buhari issued a matching order that the children have to be rescued safely.
Some members of the state government delegation at the rescue mission include, Deputy Speaker Musa Bawa Musa, Chairman House Committee on Security Hon. Zagaradeen Sada Kaura, Chairman House Committee on Education Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma among others.
