The Zamfara State Ccordnator of Human Right Agenda Network Adamu Abubakar Kwatarkwashi has asked INEC to revisit its decision of asking voters to make provision for face marsk before coming to the polling unit to vote saying, it is an attempt by the electoral body to deny voters their right to vote at the Bakura bye election.
The Civil Society advocate wondered where was INEC when political parties conducted primaries without the use of face marsk and without observing any Covid 19 protocol and yet same INEC recognizes their activities.
He said if INEC want to make the use of face marsk as condition for voting it should make provision in its budget for the procurement of the face marsk hence voters cannot spent their hard earnings to buy face marsk just because they want to vote.
He said in alternative INEC should have suggested the use of social distances as altenate measure if they don’t have enough in their budget to procure face marsk for distribution to voters.
He said this position taken by INEC will push political parties in to buying and distributing face marsk to their party supporters on the election day which will also result to electoral offences.
He called the attention of the INEC that despite the fact that, the use of face marsk is a national policy it shall not jeopardize the right of the voters and indeed the political parties as provided for in the constitution and Electoral Act.
