ARMED BANDITS ATTACK TOFA COMMUNITY IN DANSADAU, KILLS 15 PERSONS

Suspected bandits numbering over two hundred have invaded Tofa Community in Dansadau area of Zamfara State on Saturday where over 15 people were killed and scores of others have been wounded and hospitalized at Dansadau General Hospital.

One of the survivors who confided with the BBC Hausa services this morning noted that, three days before they have reported to the security agencies of the possible attack based on the intelligence information they received but they were not responsive hence they claimed they don’t have powerful weapons to confront them.

He told BBC Hausa service that, when the gunmen arrived Tofa village around 6:00pm on Saturday they started shooting sporadically and hit at anybody sighted a circumstance that influenced the residents of the communities to fight the bandits back.

He said despite the resistance by the people the bandits overpowered them and succeeded in killing 15 people and left several others wounded.

He noted further that, after the attack, the security agents at Dansadau attempted to visit the community but later declined on the ground that, information reaching them has indicated that, the bandits have run away.

The State Police Command Pubic Relations Officer SP Shehu Muhammad confirmed the incident and told BBC Hausa that, immediately the police received the information, it has ordered for immediate deployment of armed police men to take charge of the security of the area.

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
