ARMY LAUNCHES EXERCISE SAHEL SANITY IN ZAMFARA

The Nigeria Army says it will continue to employ its kinetic approach in its fight against banditry in Zamfara State while encouraging the state to strengthen its non-kinetic approach as a political means of restoring peace.



 The Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai stated this during a courtesy visit to Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle at the Government House in Gusau the state capital  on Monday.


He appreciated the effort of the government in supporting the military action in the fight against banditry noting that the Nigerian army will remain focus in dealing decisively with the bandits in the North West and North Central part of the country. 

He said there is need for the army to achieve maximum success in its fight against banditry so that those causing unrest will be made to understand how serious the government is in trying to secure the lives and properties of the people. 


He used the opportunity to seek for the continued support of the people especially in the area intelligence and Information sharing so as to help the Nigerian army plan its operations deligently and successfully. 
Buratai used the opportunity to declared that the Nigerian army has flagged off “The Exercise Sahel Sanity” which is aimed at carrying out its operations across the North West and parts of North Central which include Kaduna and Niger states. 


“This is to rid this part of the country of the marauding bandits and other criminal elements and this I assure you God’s willing, we’ll achieve that within a very short time’’ Buratai added.


In his response, Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle said his peace accord since inception has yielded positive result hence it has led to the released of 1,000 abductees who have been in captivity before he assumes office
He explained further that, his administration had facilitated disarmament of a number of repentant bandits, adding that more have been surrendering on a regular basis. 


The Governor noted further that, the vast nature of the state required more deployment of security personnel to the state, adding that the government was ready to support the security agencies with logistics

SEN. YARI DONATES (13) TRUCKS OF MAIZE TO PEOPLE OF TALATAR MAFARA

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
