Governor Dauda Lawal in a recent interview with the BBC Hausa service has renewed his position that he is against the tax reform bill introduced by President Tinubu.
The Governor insisted that unless those gray areas that scare many of them are fixed, he will not support the bill.
He said as financial experts if the North accepted the bill in its originality, time will come when most of the Governors in the region cannot afford payment of monthly salaries.
On the commencement of payment of N70,000 minimum wages, the Governor said once the committee set up to ascertain the genuine number of the state civil servants in the State completed its assignment, the government will commence action.
He noted that the verification is necessary because the implementation of a new minimum wage is something that requires continuity whenever it is started.
He noted that the labor unions have reason with the state on the need to perfect the verification exercise because they knew that the government is always ready to ensure justice and fairness to them.
“We raised their salary from, N7000 to N30,000 as minimum wage when we came on board, and they did not request for it, but we saw the need for doing that, and they appreciated us” the Governor explained.
