Nigeria’s Minister of State Defense Bello Muhammad Matawalle said Federal government has deployed enough soldiers along Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto road with a mandate to ensure that armed bandits terrorizing public along the area are well managed.
Matawalle who was speaking while addressing a crowd of APC supporters at his private resident of GRA Gusau on Saturday, said his six-day visit will offer him the opportunity to visit red-line areas affected by banditry and ensure that adequate steps are taken to end armed in Zamfara State.
The Minister recalled that when he paid a similar visit to Sokoto he used the opportunity to institution appropriate actions that help in minimizing the spates of banditry violence along Sokoto area.
He assured that he would use the opportunity of his six day working visit to go yo some strategic areas and see things for himself and also develop inward action plan that will help end banditry in the State.
He recalled that when they came on board the President has issued an order for them to procure operational planes and vehicles so that the Nigerian soldiers can be strengthened to confront the war on banditry with all sense of seriousness.
He explained further that when he served as Governor of Zamfara fighter jets and armor tankers have never been deployed to Zamfara with the aim of fighting banditry but noted that on assumption of duty as Minister of State Defense, they have deployed such facilities to Sokoto and that help in ensuring coordinated attack between troops based in Sokoto and Zamfara.
He also urged everyone in the State to remove politics out of security crises confronting the state, noting that if politics is eliminated more successes would be recorded.
He also urged the people of Zamfara to continue to pray for the Nigerian soldiers as they worked harder to end the menace of armed banditry.
