The Nigerian Ambassador to Guinea Conakry Captain Bala Mairiga had alleged that some hired thugs led by a police man stormed the two polling units where he is supervising and attempted to snatched the ballot boxes before the voters resisted the attempt.
He said the election started at the two polling units in Kwanar Kalgo and up to 2:00pm the election was going peaceful until when the police man arrived with his thugs and attempted to snatch away the ballot boxes.
He added that, the atmosphere was brought under control when a military personnel attached to the polling unit fired a shot which makes everyone scared.
That action to safeguard the ballot boxes if not the entire suffering of the people would have been wasted.
He called on the Governor to warn his supporters against what he termed as an attempt to sabotage the suffering of the especially married women and aged ones who stood since morning to cast their votes.
He expressed his regret that, if a state assembly bye elect can lead to killing of people and destruction of public properties then Nigeria is not ready to sustain democracy.
He confirmed that, as at 2:00pm reports have show that some party agents and observers from the APC have been attacked and wounded while some are already hospitalized.
