Some suspected bandits invaded Magazu town around 12:00am on Tuesday and abducted dozens of residents in the town.
A source who narrated how the incident occurred told this medium that, at the early hours of Monday the soldiers deployed to Magazu town issued an alert that residents should remain indoor in the night as they are going to conduct an operation.
He said, at around 12:00am they started hearing sounds of gunshots all over but they were relaxed expecting that the sounds of gunshots were from the soldiers.
He added that later, they realized that it was armed bandits that invaded the town and had already abducted scores of people and forced them to move to an undisclosed location.
He confirmed that, what surprise many of the residents that escaped the armed bandits attack was that, neither the military stationed in the town nor the police responded to the bandits brutality throughout the period of the operation.
He confirmed to this medium that over fourty people including women and children have been abducted by the bandits and livestock in large quantity were also whisked away.
Magazu is a town less than than twenty kilometers from Tsafe one of the local government headquarters in Zamfara state.
Effort to reach the police spokesperson SP Shehu Muhammad for comment was not successful as at the time of filing this report.
